SPIRITUAL FULLNESS IN CHRIST-PART 1
Identity: Know Whom You Have Received. A Word Feast devotional from Colossians 2:6–15 on being rooted, built up, and established in Christ.

THE WORD FEAST
Paul begins this powerful passage with identity.
Before he warns the believer about deception, he establishes something fundamental: know whom you have received and learn to live from that reality.
“AS YE HAVE RECEIVED” — PARALAMBANŌ
Paralambanō means to receive, accept, take to oneself, or take into possession.
Paul does not say you received a philosophy about Christ.
You received Christ Jesus the Lord.
Christ — the Anointed One.
Jesus — the One who saves.
Lord — the One who possesses authority and rightful rule.
You received a Person, not merely a doctrine.
And knowing whom you have received is essential to knowing who you are.
“SO WALK YE IN HIM” — PERIPATEŌ
Peripateō means to walk, live, conduct one's life.
Paul's message is simple:
The Christ you have received must become the Christ you walk in.
Receiving Christ is the beginning.
Walking in Christ is the lifestyle.
Your identity in Christ should shape your conduct.
“ROOTED” — RHIZOŌ
Rhizoō means to become rooted, firmly established.
Paul gives us the picture of a tree.
What determines the stability of a tree is not merely what is visible above the ground, but what is happening beneath it.
Likewise, spiritual stability comes from being deeply rooted in Christ.
When your identity is rooted in Christ, you are not easily moved by people's opinions, circumstances, feelings, success, failure, or cultural definitions.
Your foundation is Christ.
“BUILT UP” — EPOIKODOMEŌ
Epoikodomeō means to build upon or build up.
The Christian life is not static.
We are to continually be built up in Christ and strengthened in our faith.
What is not established can be destabilized.
“STABLISHED” — BEBAIOŌ
Bebaioō means to confirm, make firm, establish, secure.
God does not want His people spiritually unstable—constantly moved by every new voice, teaching, opinion, or circumstance.
He wants us established in Christ.
And this foundation prepares us for Paul's warning in verse 8.
LIBERATION FROM THE BONDS OF WICKEDNESS
Liberation is not simply being brought out of captivity.
It is being established in Christ.
Christ sets us free, and then He roots us in Himself so that we do not return to what He delivered us from.
Know whom you have received.
Know where you are rooted.
Know whose you are.
Because what you know about your identity will influence how you walk.
PROPHETIC PRAYERS
Father, establish me deeply in Christ so that my identity will not be shaken by circumstances or the opinions of men.
I declare that I am rooted, built up, and established in Christ.
Let my knowledge of Christ continually produce greater stability, faith, and spiritual maturity in me.
WARFARE PRAYERS
In the name of Jesus, I reject every influence seeking to distort my identity in Christ.
Every force attempting to destabilize my faith and pull me away from Christ, lose your hold over my life, in Jesus' name.
I will not return to the captivity from which Christ has delivered me, in Jesus' name.
DECLARATION
I have received Christ Jesus the Lord.
I walk in Him.
I am rooted in Him.
I am built up in Him.
I am established in the faith.
My identity is in Christ.
My foundation is Christ.
My freedom is in Christ.
I will not be moved.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
